A series of flood related alerts were issued by National Weather Service Portland Sunday for the Central Oregon Coast and Siletz River with minor flooding expected until tonight.

The Siletz River is rising and an additional inch of rain could raise it further after yesterday’s rainfall.

Flood Watch, Flood Advisory and Flood Warning alerts went out from NWS Sunday morning and warn of the Siletz River possibly flooding. Motorists are urged to “turn around, don’t drown” as most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Drivers should not attempt to drive around barricades or drive cars through flooded areas.

NWS issued the Flood Advisory Sunday for urban areas and small streams for Lincoln County. The advisory lasts until 3 p.m.

Rains should ease by this evening as rains head north.

Heavy rain could cause minor debris flows over and near recent burn areas.

NWS said an update on the Siletz River would be available around 4 p.m.
