High Surf Lincoln City

National Weather Service Portland issued a High Surf Advisory for the North and Central Oregon Coast, alerting to the possibility of destructive waves up to 25 feet.

The High Surf Advisory is in effect from 1 a.m. – 7 p.m. Friday.

High tides will occur at 1 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday and pose the biggest risk for destructive waves to wash over beaches and jetties. People can and have been swept off rocks while observing the high surf.

Higher than normal run-up is expected on beaches and low-lying shoreline, especially during high tide.

Keep away from logs on the beach as sneaker waves can lift and roll them, injuring or killing those in their path.

If you see someone swept out to sea, do not follow them in. Call 911 and keep track of their location.
