Sneaker Waves National Weather Service Portland issued a Beach Hazards Statement for Monday, alerting to an increased chance of sneaker waves for the Central Oregon Coast.

According to NWS, an increased risk of sneaker waves is possible starting Monday morning and lasting until afternoon for North and Central Oregon Coasts.

Parents are reminded to keep kids and pets close and away from the surf zone. Keep off of rocks, jetties and logs near the beach.

Sneaker waves can run up on beaches quickly, lifting and rolling logs that can cause serious injury and death.

If you see someone pulled into the ocean, do not follow them in. Call 911 and keep track of their position from the shore.
