package theft Lincoln City

Lincoln City Police and a Lincoln County Sheriff K9 unit chased and arrested a man who allegedly stole multiple packages in Lincoln City, Wednesday, Jan. 20.

Nicholas Alan Ballentine, 32, of Lincoln City, was suspected of stealing packages from a residence near the area of NW 26th Street & NW Jetty Avenue after police received a call describing Ballentine running towards the beach with packages in his arms that the caller believed had been stolen.

Lincoln City officers knew Ballentine had an active no-bail felony warrant for parole violation issued by the Oregon State Parole Board. Lincoln Co. Sheriff Deputy Zach Akin and K9 Ghost were called in to assist with the hunt for Ballentine.

The search for Ballentine led down to the beach behind Pelican Shores Inn, where he was spotted and a brief chase ensued. As Ballentine ran north on the beach, officers and K9 Ghost yelled for him to stop. After a short foot pursuit, Ballentine complied with commands and was taken into custody.

According to Lincoln City Police, Ballentine was found with methamphetamine and a small amount of Psilocybin mushrooms at the time of arrest.

Ballantine was escorted to a patrol car and transported to the Lincoln County Jail where he was lodged on the felony parole violation warrant, burglary, and possession of meth and psilocybin.

A backpack that Ballentine was wearing at the time of his arrest was seized for evidence and the investigation into the suspected theft of packages is continuing. Anyone living in the general area where Ballentine was seen running who is missing packages that had been delivered is asked to contact Officer Erik Anderson at 541-994-3636.

Lincoln City Police thanked the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with the incident, along with a special thank you to Deputy Akin and K-9 Ghost for their help in locating and capturing the suspect.

  1. At least this isn’t Portland, where he’d have been released.
Maybe I’m mistaken, but the NW section seems to have more crime than
    other areas in the city.
Meth and mushrooms.. how shocking. Too bad Ghost didn’t bite him in the
butt, but maybe dopers taste bad.

  2. Fortunately, we seem to live in a fairly political activist free zone, I’ve
had a couple issues with deluded individuals yelling obscenities at my
political signage during the election, but they’ve found something else
to occupy their small minds, at least for now.
This is not Portland, and I’d expect the LCPD to do something about
disorderly conduct and harassment if the situation arose, It’d be better
    than me doing the reeducation.

  3. When the county buys the Paradise Inn on SE 10th street and turns it into a homeless hotel then all of the crime will be in the south side of town. The hotel has 41 rooms and will be filled with homeless people from all over the state so they can have a room near the beach.

I have written Claire Hall and asked her to please make the hotel for low income housing. Hundreds of working poor will be out housing when the rent moratorium is lifted and these people keep our city running! Please email Claire Hall and let her know this homeless hotel will not work for City!

  4. Many homeless also travel, especially along the coast. Not long ago,
I recognized a person from Eureka, CA in front of IGA south.
I think most crime is drug related though, that’s where the problem is.

  5. This loser stole from a buisness, that I owned years ago. He is habitual…..They need to lock him up and throw away the key!!!!!

  6. This turd is being released on probation already, after less than a month in jail. Lock you stuff up, cuz he had no consequences and he will re offend. Case Number
