Lincoln City’s City Council members are asking for input from the public about what the City should do for Fourth of July celebrations.

The presentation seemed more of a sales pitch than a truly informative venture. From the sound of the approving voices in the small group, the die is already cast and "dark skies" ordinances and plans are coming our way. Not that that is a wholly undesirable thing. But it would be more palatable if facts were more plentiful than platitudes.

Nothing lasts forever. But the iconic Ester Lee Motel in Lincoln City, Oregon comes pretty close.

For the most part passers by showed support for the gathering with many honks and thumbs up of approval. Those that held a differing viewpoint were, as usual, vulgar- bravely screaming obscenities from their moving vehicles.

The group displayed modified and unaltered Palestinian flags and an inverted American flag with a message about America paying for genocide and red handprints on it.
