North Lincoln Fire and Rescue is teaching the kids at Taft Elementary fire awareness this week. Students get to visit with fire fighters and climb aboard a fire truck while learning about fire safety.
I spoke with NLFR Safety Officer Jim Kusz at the school and he said his job was to train the trainers and make sure the kids were learning about fire safety and not just playing in the truck. Kusz is obviously good at his job because during our mini-interview he had to stop to make sure kids stayed on the school-side of the truck and didn’t go into the street.
