Saying they knew “something was up” and calling the incident “an unusual crime,” an Oregon woman’s despair over being lost and afraid ended in her arrest Tuesday night following a welfare check by Lincoln County Sheriff's Department deputies.
Separate searches conducted this weekend by Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies resulted in the discovery within a 24-hour period of a lost hunter and a deceased female.
On May 17, 2018 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Deputy Shawn Carter stopped a vehicle for a minor traffic violation near SE East Devils Lake Rd and SE Oar Street in Lincoln City. During the traffic stop Deputy Carter recognized the rear passenger in the vehicle was exhibiting signs of a drug overdose.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office will be joining other police agencies throughout Oregon to enforce traffic occupant protection and other traffic related laws during the safety belt enforcement blitz scheduled May 14 through May 27.
Summer will be here before we know it and in the coming weeks more people will be pulling out their boats from winter storage in preparation for launch in the waters of this state.
