Taft High used five turnovers and two short first-half touchdown passes by senior quarterback David Jin to take a 14-13 halftime lead, and impenetrable defense helped the scoring hold up for a Class 3A victory over Sutherlin.
There was plenty for Taft head coach Jake Tolan to build from Friday following the Tigers’ lopsided road defeat to powerhouse Harrisburg to open the 2018 high school football season.
Strength in numbers will be the key Friday when the Taft High football team opens competition for the 2018 season with a four-team dress rehearsal at Voris Field.
